August 2026 Newsletter
A Milestone Summer
It’s been a summer of celebrations at Wealth Matters, from a well-earned wedding to some important reading on estate planning, plus a few adventures both close to home and further afield.
This edition puts the spotlight on Chris Beckett, who shares his journey from estate agency into financial planning, the challenges of studying for his exams alongside family life, and what’s ahead as he works towards a full financial planning role. Warm congratulations also go to Rachel, who married James in a beautiful ceremony in July, complete with a wild daisy theme and a few happy tears along the way.
On the financial planning side, Graham Dormer tackles some of the biggest misconceptions around lifetime gifting - from the seven-year rule to questions of fairness between family members - while Thusha Thurairatnam separates fact from fiction on Lasting Powers of Attorney, addressing some of the most common myths clients raise. Both are well worth a read if estate planning is on your mind.
Elsewhere, the team spent an afternoon volunteering at Luton Foodbank, getting a firsthand look at the scale of local need, and we’re launching the Wealth Matters Food Drive to keep that support going into the autumn.
And, of course, no edition would be complete without an update on Toby, who swapped his usual office patrols for a family holiday to Germany’s Eibsee.
We hope you enjoy this month’s updates.
